Dr. Craig Lowrie and Dr. Margaret Arwood offer orthodontic screenings in Anchorage and Wasilla, Alaska, to determine if you would benefit from orthodontic treatment. These screenings allow us to determine your exact needs and which type of orthodontic treatment would provide you with the best results. We welcome you to call Advanced Family Dentistry at 907-357-5018 to set up an appointment with our dentists and learn more about orthodontic screenings.

You can receive orthodontic treatment at any age – in fact, it is becoming increasingly common for adults to seek orthodontic treatment. However, the childhood and teenage years are the ideal time to begin treatment, as the teeth can be moved into their proper positions more easily. We, along with the American Association of Orthodontists®, recommend that children receive their initial orthodontic screening by age 7. This allows us to determine if orthodontic treatment will be needed and when it should begin.

Regardless of what age you receive your orthodontic screening, the process will be the same. During your screening our dentists will perform a complete oral examination, including an analysis of your bite and an exam of your teeth, oral musculature and bone structure. We will also take X-rays for a photographic analysis and discuss your oral habits with you. This will allow us to establish an orthodontic baseline so that we can find the best solution for your individual needs and determine whether braces or clear aligners are a good option for you.
